IKATAN PENTJAK SILAT: An Indonesian organization, founded in 1947, as part of Indonesia's post-independence attempt to unify the various forms of PENTJAK SILAT. Ikatan PENTJAK SILAT implemented a one-year compulsory course in PENTJAK SILAT for both boys and girls in the country's Muslim school system. (See also Pentjak Silat article).
